Broads Heritage Discovery Day


A unique opportunity to enjoy 3 attractions in one day including lunch.

Included in the discovery day:

10.30 Arrive at the Wind Energy Museum at Repps with Bastwick for tea and coffee
11.00 Guided tour and working demonstrations of 200 years of wind powered history. You will also learn about the drainage systems of Norfolk. Then take a look around the Morse room, read about Norfolks Mills, enjoy looking at the Windmill models. You can even generate some electricity!
12.30 Lunch is served followed by a riverside walk to Thurne Mill. Watch this pump turning in the wind, hear its history and look inside.
15,00 Jump aboard the Wherry Maud learn about its history and go out for a sail on this fabulous traditional wherry.
Finally you will be dropped back at the Repps with Bastwick Staithe to pick up your cars

There are only 12 spaces available for each of these trips, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

In adverse weather conditions the Wherry trip may be cancelled and will be replaced with an illustrated talk on “The History of the Wherry Maud”. This will take place in the Morse Room at the museum following a circular walk to Thurne Mill. Those who have paid £45 will receive a £10 refund.

Appropriate clothing & footwear for all weather conditions is recommended

Follow A149 towards Repps with Bastick. When reaching Repps turn left into Church Road, stay on this road past the church and then turn right onto Staithe Road. Once in Staithe Road continue along until you come to a sharp right hand bend - the museum is sharp left up the slope and along the track
