As might be expected, quality boat building, repair and maintenance are also important industries for the local area. Great Yarmouth is home to high quality boat manufacturers ranging from large ocean-going sailing yachts and motor cruisers for sea and inland waterways to lifeboat refits and traditional timber boat building.

Norfolk is an agricultural county, and the port plays a vital role in handling and distribution services for companies involved in farming and food processing, such as grain handling. The town is also home to the UK's largest independent fertiliser producer.
