Based at Burgh Castle, west of Great Yarmouth, the company has nearly 40 years of experience. Today the focus is on designing and building offshore wind farm workboats, undertaking major refurbishment projects for fishing industry companies and construction electric engine, inland waterway observation launches.
Alicat is an highly experienced boat builder, specialising in steel and aluminium, across all marine sectors. Alicat's main operational base is in Great Yarmouth, a seven acre site with direct access to the North Sea. The facility itself combines some of the most comprehensive range of services, equipment and skilled personnel around, and provides bespoke marine and engineering technical solutions across most sectors.
Established in May 2009 as a subsidiary to established shipbuilders and engineers Richards Dry Dock and Engineering Ltd, the company was initially formed to build the new Alicat Range of aluminium workboats serving as crew transfer vessels for the offshore wind sector. Since then their vessels have worked on most of Europes wind farms during construction and operational phases, as well as providing transfer, support and guard duties to other sectors including the oil and gas sector.
Alicat operates arguably one of the UK's most capable small vessel repair facilities in the UK. With a 200 tonne mobile vessel lift, 184m of quayheading, 7000 square metres of hard standing areas, wet & dry docks, and a complete compliment of dedicated services onsite, aiming to take the hassle out of vessel maintenance and repairs.
Alicat’s Marine Electrical division designs, manufactures and installs complete electrical solutions across all sectors including cruise & ferries, yachts, workboats, survey vessels, and military craft.
Survival Systems International Inc. is an innovative lifeboat manufacturing company that provides offshore operators with the equipment, the instruction and the knowledge to achieve a safe evacuation when an emergency occurs on an offshore installation. A global company with long-established base in Great Yarmouth, SSI focuses on marine safety through routine maintenance, overload testing, fast rescue craft maintenance and onshore/offshore repairs.
Built by themselves in the 1950's, the Martham Boat Building Development Company have been letting fine traditional Broads Cruisers for over 40 years. In this time they have given many Broads lovers and holiday makers a fantastic experience of the waterways and surrounding Broadland beauty.
The Silver Jubilee class is the largest boat built by Martham Boats. At 43 feet, she is constructed of mahogany on oak frames, with beautiful mahogany bright work. She still retains a lot of original features and has been sympathetically updated over the years.
