Bateman Groundworks Ltd
Bateman Groundworks Ltd has built up an enviable reputation for first class groundworks and civil engineering services for developers and contractors throughout East Anglia and the East of England.
The company – started in Great Yarmouth 20 years ago by managing director Richard Bateman – was last year named among the London Stock Exchange’s 1000 Companies to Inspire for the second consecutive year in the list’s three year history.
The LSE lists the nation’s most dynamic fast-growing companies.
Bateman Groundworks’ staff are the first people on green and brown field development sites, installing all the infrastructure work - the main sewers, roads and footpaths - and undertaking groundworks for the developer up to finished floor level.
The company works for a range of blue chip clients, including Taylor Wimpey, Bovis Homes, Barratts and Persimmon Homes.
It employs 180 staff with a turnover of £17.25 last year with a projected 25-30 per cent growth again this year.
Recent success has been driven by the housing market, but Bateman prides itself on taking a different approach to its competitors by employing professionally qualified site managers to shoulder some of the client’s burden.
The company also invests in training staff and has an exemplary safety record. It was chosen by the government’s Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as a national exemplar for the industry for its leadership and staff involvement in its health and safety practices.
The company’s philosophy is to identify a client's needs then provide a solution that technically and financially meets those needs to the highest quality and safest possible standards.
A strong reputation for customer care and close working relationship with clients results in referrals and repeat contracts.
The company is also passionate about supporting its community. As well as sponsoring the Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival, it supports sporting teams, events and charities across the county as part of its commitment to help East Anglia reach its full potential for the benefit of its residents and communities.
