E.ON is one of the UK’s leading renewable energy companies and is proud to be sponsoring the Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival once again in 2016.
In the UK we own and operate 15 onshore and 4 offshore wind farms, including Scroby Sands as well as owning part of the world’s largest operating offshore wind farm, London Array.
Built in 2004, Scroby Sands, located 3km off the coast of Great Yarmouth, was one of the UK’s first commercial offshore wind farms. In 2015, the 30 turbine site provided enough electricity for more than 40,000 homes*. With sources of renewable energy like wind power from Scroby Sands, we’re helping shape a better future for energy generation and the environment.
Throughout the life of the wind farm, we’ve continued to invest in the local community by using local businesses and people. We’re committed to being a good neighbour by supporting, educating and engaging with the community in and around the Great Yarmouth area.
The Scroby Sands Visitor Centre located on Great Yarmouth seafront helps both local people and visitors find out more about the wind farm and renewable energy. As an educational facility that everyone can enjoy, the centre also provides local schools and community groups with the opportunity to visit and learn more about the Scroby Sands Offshore Wind Farm.
The visitor centre is open seven days a week from 10am to 4pm from March to October.
