The Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival is proud to be sponsored again this year by Great Yarmouth based Gardline, the world's largest independently owned survey company. Gardline supplies environmental, geotechnical, geophysical, hydrographic and oceanographic surveys for the offshore market including oil and gas and the offshore renewable sectors. Today the company operates worldwide with a fleet of over 25 vessels from its headquarters in Great Yarmouth.
Gardline was established just over 40 years ago by George Darling and is still owned by his family. Over the years, the group has diversified into areas other than survey work such as satellite communications (GComm and AST), security services (GSL Dardan), electrical contractors (Independent Electrical Services) and property company Howards. However, the majority of Gardline's business remains linked to the maritime sector.
One of Gardline's most recent new ventures is the manufacturing of vessels. In May 2009, Alicat Workboats Ltd was established as a sister company to Richards Dry Dock and Engineering, based on Great Yarmouth's South Quay and also part of the Gardline Group. Alicat workboats are aluminium catamarans specifically designed for the offshore wind sector.
Gardline has a long history of operating in Great Yarmouth, drawing on local expertise and knowledge of working offshore. The group is proud to support the Maritime Festival.
