Greater Yarmouth Tourist Authority

The Greater Yarmouth Tourist Authority is a private/public partnership established in 1994 to attract visitors to Great Yarmouth and the surrounding area, to provide information and accommodation services for visitors and local residents and to represent and promote the local tourist industry.

The GYTA Board is made up of a mix of private business owners, Great Yarmouth Borough Councillors and one Norfolk County Councillor. The GYTA has a number of trade groups, such as the GYTA Hotel & Guest House Group, the GYTA Hemsby & Newport Group and the GYTA Marketing Group made up of relevant representatives.

Any business who feels that tourism is important to them may become a member of the tourism authority whose motto is 'together everyone achieves more.'

Annual membership subscriptions contribute towards seafront illuminations, the Summer Firework displays in July and August and the marketing of the area year round. With the assistance of the GYTA and its members, the Greater Yarmouth Tourism Division has been able to advertise the area on television every summer since 2008.

The Tourist Authority has organised an annual study trip for interested parties of tourism related businesses for the past eleven years, going to other resorts in the UK and abroad to study best practice, to swap ideas and to understand what makes a resort tick.

The Tourist Authority is proud to have developed the Maritime Festival into the popular event that it is today and thanks all local businesses for their support.
