Hemsby became the centre of worldwide media attention three winters ago when a surging North Sea swallowed seven chalet bungalows on low cliffs unprotected by sea defences.

Movie Star ship to sail into Maritime Festival

An historic ship that doubles as movie and TV star will be centre stage at Great Yarmouth's Maritime Festival this year. The 1940s sailing ship Earl of Pembroke has figured in more than a dozen films and TV series since it was restored in 1994. They include the movie Cloud Atlas – starring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Hugh Grant – as well as roles in Hornblower, Treasure Island, Alice in Wonderland, Wives and Daughters, and the Count of Monte Cristo.

Deck houses signal future at historic holiday camp

A pioneering seaside holiday village has unveiled a £2m set of modern “deck houses” for the summer season. The investment is at Caister Holiday Park near Great Yarmouth, where there is an ongoing campaign to upgrade attractions and events to attract more visitors. The 16 New England-style clapperboard units are the first phase of a three-year programme to add 46 deck houses to the site – which is proud of its history as the UK's oldest holiday park dating back 110 years.
