Boy's sleepy smiles to promote joy at the seaside

Sweet dreams - smiling on the way homeA little boy’s heart-warming sleepy smile recalling a fun holiday is re-awakening awareness about what a popular resort has to offer.

He is the star of a television advert promoting Great Yarmouth’s suitcase full of family fun being targeted at the Essex and North London areas.

The youngster is shown having a great holiday with his parents and sister, including building sandcastles, riding a roller coaster, visiting the Sea Life Centre and circus.

But every time his dad takes a photo of the lad, he pulls a frowny face.
Once home again when the boy wakes up one morning he finds a picture taken as he slept in the car on the way home – with him smiling from ear to ear.

The advert – entitled Happiness Guaranteed – is the latest promotional film being used by the Greater Yarmouth Tourism and Business Improvement Area which uses a pot of local levy payers’ cash for marketing and events to attract more visitors.

It aims to showcase the resort and surrounding area which boasts more than 60 attractions including fun and wildlife parks, zoos, theatres, 15 miles of beaches, Broads waterways, countryside walks, history trails, horse and greyhound racing, golf, and a range of accommodation from camping and holiday parks to four-star hotels.

Great Yarmouth also hosts a string of free-entry major festivals featuring cars (Wheels July 8th and 9th), seafaring (Maritime Festival, September 9th and 10th), and international circus and street performing skills (Out There, September 15th and 16th).

The Great Yarmouth area hosts 6.6m people each year, 5.6m of them day visitors. It is enjoying recent, current and planned investment in attractions, holiday parks, hotels and infrastructure showing commercial and council confidence.

GYTABIA chairman Gareth Brown said: “Great Yarmouth is already one of the UK’s most popular destinations for holidays and for day trips.

“But we are keen to remind people what the resort, surrounding villages and Norfolk Broads, can offer.

“This charming little film showcases the attractions through a storyline that really engages with people of all ages – especially parents of young children – and we hope they will book a break here soon.”

The advert version of the film is being shown on Sky in Essex and North London, and also on ITV’s and Channel 5 “video on demand” and “catch-up,” services.
