Skies are ablaze with summer fireworks
Fireworks are lighting up seafronts as the summer programme of pyrotechnics gets into full swing in the Great Yarmouth area.
Each week until the end of August the boom, crackle and colour of towering rockets will entertain big crowds on the seafronts at Great Yarmouth and Hemsby.
The Great Yarmouth events also feature two hours of live entertainment beforehand on the Sealife Centre Gardens.
Visitors will get grandstand views of the aerial action all along the seafront or from the Britannia and Wellington piers.
The free displays, both at 10pm, are each Wednesday at Great Yarmouth and Tuesday at Hemsby.
They are funded by the Greater Yarmouth Tourism and Business Improvement District in its ongoing drive to bring more visitors to the area, to boost the local economy.
Surveys for the BID have shown that fireworks visitors have also been to amusement arcades, other attractions, eateries and the beach.
BID chairman Gareth Brown said: “Visitors of all ages love a good fireworks display, and the ones at Great Yarmouth and Hemsby are a long-running attraction for tourists, day visitors and local community alike.
“They bring extra crowds to the seafronts in the evening, to explore, drink and dine in the area beforehand, which is exactly what the BID is designed to do – provide customers for our levy payers.”
The Great Yarmouth displays are each Wednesday until August 31, with entertainment starting at 8pm.
The Hemsby fireworks, launched on the beach, and visible all along Beach Road, are every Tuesday until August 30.
