See Britain’s Volleyball Champions in Yarmouth August Bank Weekend Britain’s top volleyball players are set to battle it out on the beaches of Great Yarmouth, as part of the Volleyball England Beach Tour Grand Slam over the August bank holiday weekend. The event is organised by the Volleyball England Beach Commission governing body; following last year’s success the two day event returns to Great Yarmouth for the second year. Visitors to the resort will be able to watch some of the country’s most talented players take part in a range of competitions on Great Yarmouth’s famous Central Beach, alongside the Britannia Pier over the August Bank Holiday weekend on 25th and 26th August. A highlight will be the pairs’ competition, including the top teams on the tour. For less advanced players there will also be a Division 2 pairs’ competition, as well as standard competitions for those who just want to take part and play for fun. Great Yarmouth is one of Britain’s greatest seaside resorts with large, sandy beaches and an array of exciting attractions and entertainment all along the seafront, providing plenty to do for visitors during the competition. This is set to be an exciting event encouraging sports and volleyball participation within the Borough. Such events are important to us in strengthening the events programme within the local area and building Great Yarmouth’s reputation as a ‘Festival’ destination.’ In addition, to promote and encourage volleyball participation, the Council’s Sports Development Service will be organizing Volleyball sessions on Great Yarmouth’s Central Beach on Tuesday 21st (2pm – 4pm) Wed 22nd (3pm – 5pm) and Thursday 23rd (4pm – 6pm) for those interested in being coached and playing in some impromptu games.
