One hundred and seventeen miles of Norfolk's roads were the route for the county's largest ever live sporting spectacle, as the Tour of Britain cycle race headed across Norfolk on Thursday September 16 2010.
The Tour of Britain is the UK's biggest professional bicycle race and the biggest free to spectate sporting event in the UK. The eight-day event proceeded through Norfolk at stage six - with some of the world's top cyclists competing for the right to wear the yellow jersey as stage winner.
Stage six of the race came to a thrilling end mid-afternoon on South Beach Parade in Great Yarmouth where crowds lined the streets to cheer the competitors over the finish line and the media were on hand to keep the crowds entertained and to record the exciting finish.
A truly unmissable event! Great Yarmouth looks forward to hosting many more.
