Out of Town- 'The Northern Parishes'

The northern idyllic and picturesque village parishes of Martham, Fleggburgh, Filby, Thrigby, Rollesby, Clippesby, Ormesby St Margaret and Thurne circle Great Yarmouth and are just a small distance away for tranquillity and discovery.

Filby Village
Enjoy the many beautiful gardens on display throughout the parishes with some winning credited 2005 and 2006 Anglia in Bloom awards.

Martham, Rollesby & Filby
On approaching Martham, St Mary’s church stands proud on a small rise surrounded by trees. The many walks around Martham and surrounding villages give you the perfect excuse to leave the car behind and sample country life at its best. Rollesby Broad is an ideal spot for fishing or sailing and the village has a proud history with the first evidence of settlers in this area. Linked to Rollesby Broad is Filby Broad a peaceful haven for a variety of wildlife and passing rowing boats, Filby is also the 2006 Anglia in Bloom winner for Best Village.

Thurne Windmill
Thurne, Ormesby St Margaret, Clippesby and Thrigby
Nearby Thurne boasts two windmills standing either side of the river and Clippesby is home to a popular holiday park. Ormesby St Margaret is a mile or so inland from the coast with an unusually large two-acre village green. Enjoy a visit to Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens where a superb collection of mammals, birds and reptiles can be seen amongst beautiful surroundings.
