Great Yarmouth beach guide
Relax and enjoy our soft, clean, sandy beaches all year round. The Great Yarmouth coastline stretches along 15 miles of beautiful sandy beach, past sand dunes and seaside amusements, taking in donkey rides and bouncy castles from Winterton-on-Sea in the north to Hopton-on-Sea in the South.
The wide, clean, sandy beaches are some of the most beautiful stretches of beach in East Anglia, with miles of soft sand even at high tide. Our beaches are perfect for lazing the days away in summer, a paddle in our 'excellent' rated bathing waters and just as ideal for walking at any time of the year.
The key focal points on Great Yarmouth seafront separating miles of sandy beach are the two piers. At the northern end the Britannia Pier stands proudly above the beach, while donkey rides take place below in the summer season.
The Wellington Pier, further along Marine Parade towards the southern end of the strip is open all year round, with amusment arcades and a fantastic ten-pin bowling alley at the end of the pier.
Beach huts are available to hire on Great Yarmouth beach and along Gorleston promenade.

Great Yarmouth's Golden Mile is said to be found between the two piers, Britannia Pier to the north and Wellington Pier to the south, although strictly speaking, it really isn't a mile between them and there's plenty more fun to be found further south.
Built in 1854, the Wellington Pier was only the seventh pier to be constructed in Britain. Following significant reconstruction in 2008 the pier is a fun family entertainment zone with a bright and airy ten-pin bowling alley with diner, a large amusement arcade and is beautifully illuminated after dark.
The Britannia Pier has a traditional end of the pier funfair, a showbar and theatre, which has some great acts in summer. Stalls with all sorts of traditional seaside games and food, line its wood-slatted walkway.
