Marine Parade
Marine Parade is the vibrant focal point of Great Yarmouth's seafront packed with amusements, attractions, adventure golf, pubs, restaurants and a stunning view over the beach out to sea.
Frequently referred to as the Golden Mile, the beachside promenade features extra wide pavements so you can wander up and down as slowly or as quickly as you like. At night the seafront is lit by stunning, twinkly decorative sails all the way from Britannia Pier to the Pleasure Beach.
Plenty to see and do
A stroll along Marine Parade from north to south starts with the bowling greens and Britannia Pier all looking out over sandy North Beach towards the elegant Scroby Sands wind turbines. Views along Regent Road towards the town centre look even better at night when the ceiling of light is on.
Joyland theme park and diner are on the side of Anchor Plaza, home to great events and Classic Car shows on selected Sundays all year round. The neighbouring garden is landscaped with huge floral anchors, overlooked by a huge choice of inflatable bouncy castles for the kids to run riot on. Opposite, are colourful Victorian terraced houses with all sorts of cafés and restaurants to choose from and a number of amusement arcardes.
Boat trips to see the seals out at Scroby Sands launch from Central Beach, just next to the RNLI's lifeguard pod, manned from June to September. Pirate's Cove 18 hole adventure golf course, complete with palm trees and exotic plants to navigate is great fun. Castaway Island adventure golf has tropical palm trees and obstacles to putt through.
The amazing Sea Life Centre with its huge ocean tank brings you to the middle of Marine Parade, where you can enjoy floor to ceiling beach and sea views from inside Wellington Pier's ten pin bowling alley.
A parade of shops and cafés leads you on to the beautifully landscaped Merrivale Model Village with winding model railway and the Pleasure Beach, which are next to sandy South Beach at the southern end of the seafront.
Running from north to south, the slow lane has been especially built for cyclists, the Lord Choo Choo road train and the famous Great Yarmouth horse-drawn landaus so visitors can jump on board and travel the length of Marine Parade whilst you decide just what to do first.
On the wide esplanade next to wide, sandy Central Beach you'll find beach side cafés, park benches and beach huts where you can sit back and watch the world go by. Café areas spill out onto the esplanade for a bite to eat while looking out over the sea. On the beach, deck chairs, donkey rides and bouncy castles are all within easy reach for a traditional day or stay at the seaside.
The Golden Mile has all sorts of attractions to keep you entertained, day and night, come rain or shine, with indoor and outdoor activities for all the family. It's easy to weather-proof your holiday on the seafront with plenty of food and drink options too if you need a bite to eat.
