Making Waves Together - Reimagining Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft

Great Places, Making Waves Together

Making Waves Together achievements

Making Waves Together was an ambitious three-year programme running from 2017-2020 that aimed to enhance civic pride, health, wellbeing and to unite communities.

It brought the towns of Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft together by giving people the opportunity to participate and engage in a wide variety of art and heritage activities and events that they may otherwise not have exposure to.

The project aimed to raise the profile for culture as a driver for economic growth and community pride, support cultural education to inspire young people in order to influence the way the towns develop, strengthen both areas and to make them more attractive places to live, work and invest in.

Making Waves Together saw Great Yarmouth Borough Council and East Suffolk Council work together with local creative partners to provide more cultural opportunities in Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft – something that had not been done before.

This was made possible through the Great Places scheme – an initiative between National Lottery Heritage Fund, Arts Council England, and Historic England.

We also would like to express our thanks to National Lottery Players for making this possible.

Partners that supported, inspired and engaged both towns’ communities as participants and audiences included: East Suffolk Council, Great Yarmouth Borough Council, Local Cultural Education Partnership - Enjoy GY and Lowestoft Rising, Marina Theatre, DanceEast, originalprojects;, FlipSide, Great Yarmouth Preservation Trust, SeaChange Arts, Reprezent, and Time and Tide Museum as part of Norfolk Museums Service in partnership with Lowestoft Museums as part of Association for Suffolk Museums.
