DanceEast

DanceEast is one of the UK’s leading dance organisations. It is based at the Jerwood DanceHouse in Ipswich, the home of dance in the East of England and is a registered charity funded by the Arts Council England, Suffolk County Council, Ipswich Borough Council and donations from individuals, businesses, trusts and foundations.

It places artists at the heart of the organisation, presenting high quality, high profile dance work and has been running a range of innovative community projects for many years, working closely with partners on local, national and international projects.

Making Waves Together

Under the Making Waves Together programme DanceEast will deliver the The Lowestoft Dance Map. They will be delivering two performances in partnership with the Maritime Museum and Lowestoft Museum along with existing community groups. Led by choreographic duo GlassHouse Dance, the Dance Map will encourage local people to use movement as a stimulus for pop-up performances at Sparrows Nest (July 2018) and Oulton Broad (June 2019).

“We are excited to work with the museums to interpret stories of Lowestoft’s history and translate these into movement to celebrate the town’s past.”
