Ex Marks the Spot

originalprojects;
orginalprojects; are moving into the former Marks and Spencer’s building in the heart of Great Yarmouth Town Centre, this has been a long time in the planning and will serve as a substantial pop-up gallery and events space for the group and Great Yarmouth. This also brings an important building back into use, while a more permeant use continues to be explored.

Launching on 6th April with two exhibitions, the new space will be open noon to 6pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The first of the two exhibitions is presented by Two Points East and The Art of the Book Cover, and explores Judith Ellis’ illustrated book that present a view of maritime Norfolk. Unbound copies were circulated amongst Members of the Society of Bookbinders and several unique designs will be on display.

The second showcase is by Brilliant Folk Art and is an exhibition of Jaodong Window Paper-Cutting. It is distinct from other Chinese paper-cutting as it has a strong focus on narrative, chronicling historical episodes as well as local folklore, myths and legends. The art form originated on the coast and the regional features often depict maritime or farming scenes. The exhibition is being produced in collaboration with the Yantai Cultural and Tourism Bureau and the Yantain Art Museum.

Entry to the exhibitions is free and all are welcome.
