FlipSide programmes festival, outreach and educational projects that stimulate, inspire and help transforms people’s view of the world. They provide a unique opportunity for the East of England and national audiences to experience high quality life enhancing literature, music and arts events with a distinctive international dimension.

FlipSide is the sister festival of the FLIP in Brazil, South America’s first and largest international literacy festival, and has welcomed artists from all around the world at Snape Maltings, where it has held four festivals, and in other venues across East Anglia.

The organisation works in parts of the Eastern regions where participation in the arts is low, working with schools, community groups and local councils to create cultural events that connect people to their locality and diverse communities. FlipSide’s ethos mirrors the informal and vibrant way the arts are enjoyed in Latin culture, with activities that focus on the potential and talents of the community, are hands on and encourage making, performing and creating.

A registered charity, the FlipSide team and board of trustees comprises of award winning publishers, artists, film makers and entrepreneurs who all believe in the power of culture to enrich lives and increase cultural diversity.

Making Waves Together Town Hall

Making Waves Together

By being part of the Great Place Making Waves Together programme will enable FlipSide to expand their geographical reach, particularly to areas of low engagement in the arts and heritage, and to develop partnerships in both Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.

“For Watertight Words we are excited to be building our community and education work and explore new projects with new audiences.” In addition Watertight Words is also enabling them to develop their cross sector engagement, for example an exhibition of the artwork produced will be on display at the Coastal Conference in October 2018.

For the Wind Power project in Great Yarmouth they are delighted to be reconnecting with Enjoy and building a partnership with the Great Yarmouth Preservation Trust and their Venetian Waterways Project. FlipSide are “looking forward to exploring the heritage of Great Yarmouth and linking it to the renewables in a very hands on and accessible way.” The project will also allow them to develop their partnership with the town.
