Conservation Training

Conservation Training Update

Five weeks of Conservation training for the scores project started on Thursday 27th June 2019. The training offers practical experience in learning the process and skills involved in working with historic buildings and structures such those on the Lowestoft Scores.

Scores Research

Rows and Scores Projects

As part of Making Waves Together, the Great Yarmouth Preservation Trust has undertaken two separate pieces of research work on the Rows in Great Yarmouth and Scores in Lowestoft.

Both projects ended with private casual exhibitions for volunteers to share their research between each other and individuals and organisations that have helped over the research work.


Ex Marks the Spot

orginalprojects; are moving into the former Marks and Spencer’s building in the heart of Great Yarmouth Town Centre, this has been a long time in the planning and will serve as a substantial pop-up gallery and events space for the group and Great Yarmouth. This also brings an important building back into use, while a more permeant use continues to be explored.



From Saturday 1st to Sunday 23rd December, THE ANNOTATED READER will be exhibited in five locations across Great Yarmouth. 

Medieval Rows Project

Enhance and celebrate the medieval Rows

The search is on for volunteers to get involved in the next stage of a project to enhance and celebrate Great Yarmouth's medieval rows, which form part of the town's unique street pattern.

The Making Waves Together impact

The spring and summer months have seen a flurry of activities for the Making Waves Together team and partners. The activities taking place have had a real impact on the local communities in both Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft and are leading to sustainability beyond the project.

Part of Making Waves Together is to develop cultural education and understanding in schools across Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.

Adding a splash of colour to the dreary

As part of the Making Waves programme the Reprezent Project were presented with the opportunity to showcase their creativity and vision for the town by changing the Fullers Hill underpass into an art gallery. It also allowed them to test new ideas and approaches to their work.

Train Station Photographic Frenzi

Photographic Frieze at Train Station

A 55 metre long frieze of photographs taken by local train enthusiast Mark Potton has been installed at Great Yarmouth Train Station, thanks to originalprojects; a Great Yarmouth based arts organisation.

Watertight Words

Flipside decorates the town

Flipside have launched the first pop-up installations under the Watertight Words project. The cultural animations are linked to Lowestoft’s flood risk management programme and are being displayed on the former Town Hall.

Creative work will take place tomorrow to transform two underpasses in the heart of Great Yarmouth into a contemporary art gallery like no other - supporting wider programmes to boost the cultural offer and improve gateways into the town centre.
