Dudgeon offshore substation jacket installationAs the operator and one of the owners of the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm, Statoil is pleased to be one of the sponsors of the 2017 Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival.

Last year Statoil completed its base at Berth 9 in South Denes Road, Great Yarmouth, from where the Dudgeon offshore construction activities are being managed, and from where all Operation and Maintenance work will be based for the lifetime of the wind farm.

The Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm is being built 20 miles off the coast of Cromer in North Norfolk. It started to generate electricity in February 2017 and, when completed later this year, its 67 wind turbine generators are expected to generate sufficient electricity to power 410,000 UK homes annually.

This £1.4 billion project is creating a variety of UK opportunities. A number of British suppliers are involved in the wind farm’s construction, and at least 70 local jobs directly associated with the operations phase have now been created, with additional indirect opportunities in the supply chain.

The organisation comprises 30-35 people working onshore in Great Yarmouth, supporting the 35-40 offshore technicians. Statoil has chartered the Esvagt Njord Service Offshore Vessel from which its offshore personnel work on a 14 days on /14 days off cycle. This highly distinctive vessel comes in to Great Yarmouth’s river harbour every two weeks for technician changeover and to re-provision.

Statoil looks forward to welcoming Festival visitors to its stand in the Sponsors Marquee.
