Parking in Great Yarmouth

Parking in Great Yarmouth is easy with both long stay and short stay car parks run by Great Yarmouth Borough Council, as well as on-street parking run by Norfolk County Council.

On Great Yarmouth seafront, short stay car parks are open all year. Charges vary depending on the season. Summer charges come into effect on 1 April until the end of October. Charges are £2.40 per hour for the first two hours and £3.20 per hour thereafter. Winter charges are £1.50 per hour in effect from 1 November to the start of British Summer Time.

Long stay car parks are usually open from Easter until the end of October. There are two long stay car parks on Great Yarmouth seafront - North Drive car park on North drive in between the basketball court and the Waterways or St. Nicholas car park opposite the Pleasure Beach Gardens. These are priced at £5.80 for up to four hours and £9 for over 4 hours.

All other car parks along the seafront on the beach side are standard short stay car parks.

Additional short stay and long stay borough council car parks which are open all year round can be found nearer Great Yarmouth town centre. The town centre is only a short 10-15 minute walk from the seafront. The fee for town centre short stay car parks is £1 per hour for up to 4 hours parking and £8.00 for parking over 4 hours. Long stay town centre car parks are £1 per hour for the first 4 hours with different charges for parking over 4 hours.

On-street parking is also available all along Marine Parade in Great Yarmouth. On-street parking is free from 1 November to 31 March, but is chargeable from 1 April onwards. From 1 April to 31 October, up to 4 hours parking costs £4.50 or all day parking costs £7.00. After 6pm, parking is free.

To pay for your parking either in a car park or on the street on Marine parade, the pay and display machines all take coins (but no notes) - the machines will take over payments but do not give change so make sure you put the right amount of money in. On each car park, there is at least one machine takes card payments. All pay and display machines have a code on the MiPermit app (details on the machines).

Rover Tickets

Two types of Rover ticket are available, a 72 hour ticket which runs from noon on the first day until noon after 72 hours have expired priced at £13.00 and an 8-day ticket priced at £31.00.

Both ticket types can be purchased from our eShop.
They permit you to park in most council run car parks on the seafront and in the town centre (not Howard Street or Middlegate).
Rover Tickets must be bought in advance of your stay - either by using our online eShop to print your ticket out yourself or ordering from Great Yarmouth Borough Council's website, allowing 5 days for the ticket to be sent out in the post.
