Skate Yarmouth - Glide into Christmas on the Norfolk coast this festive season

Get your skates on in Great Yarmouth this festive season with the return of the real ice skating rink to the Market Square.

Christmas 2017 gets underway in Great Yarmouth on Friday 24 November with the Great Yarmouth Christmas Fayre in the Minster and on the Market Place, the opening of the real ice rink and the Great Yarmouth Christmas lights switch on with fireworks display! 

There's free parking after 4pm every day and from 12noon on Wednesdays as well as all day on Sunday in most Great Yarmouth Borough Council operated surface car parks, perfect timing to save money that you can spend on shopping for presents instead.

Santa will be making Great Yarmouth a port of call from Saturday 2 December onwards with loads of oportunities to talk to him about your Christmas present wish list in Santa's Grotto and in Palmers. Children can write, decorate and post their letter to Father Christmas in Santa's Post Office in the market square.  

And the Winter Beer & Cider Festival makes a welcome return to St. George's Theatre from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 December for a Christmas tipple or two. 

Late night shopping takes place every Wednesday from Wednesday 29 November to Wednesday 20 December with shops open until 8pm.

Take the stress out of Christmas shopping in Great Yarmouth, a historic seaside market town, with all sorts of shops to be explored surrounding the cobbled market place, along unique Rows, in the Victoria Arcade, along King Street and Northgate Street and in Market Gates shopping mall.

A stroll along the high street in neighbouring Gorleston-on-Sea High Street is another laid-back place to shop, where the Christmas Lights will be switched-on after an afternoon of festive cheer on Sunday 26 November with more fireworks to enjoy.

Once the shopping is over and it's time to relax, enjoy pantomimes and Christmas shows, have a family day out at a local attraction or wrap up warm and get out and about on a wintery walk. There's no need to stay stuck indoors this Christmas holiday in Greater Yarmouth.
