Play - sports of all sorts in Greater Yarmouth

Greater Yarmouth is a superb destination for race spectators and sporting enthusiasts with a race course, a greyhound and stock car stadium and three 18 hole golf courses within a stone's throw of the resort, plus many more golf courses in Norfolk and nearby Suffolk.

Other sporting fixtures include World International Bowls at Potters Resort every January, and the Festival of Bowls on Britannia Bowling Greens starting in August.

Great Yarmouth has a fantastic seaside racecourse for horse racing on the flat with meetings taking place from around Easter to the end of October. Great Yarmouth's racecourse is one of only a very few courses in the country to have a straight mile, popular with Newmarket trainers and their younger horses. They also play host to other events including the NRSA Fun Run - Hot Rods & American Cars Show 1-3 June. The show is open to pre 1972 hot rods and includes a ride out around the borough on Saturday with a huge Show and Shine Show on Sunday.

The Eastern Festival of Racing is held in September and regular summer Music Live nights with evening racing and a live band take place over the summer months. Children under 16 go for free, making it a family-friendly venue.

Yarmouth Stadium between Great Yarmouth and Caister-on-Sea has a year-round programme of greyhound racing and stock car racing from January to December. The popular raceview restaurant is a favourite venue for fun nights out for all the family whatever the weather. With outside terraces, bars and cafés, the stadium is a very family-friendly venue. Special gala evenings are often rounded off with spectacular fireworks displays.

Dinghy and yacht racing takes place regularly on the Trinity Broads at Filby and Rollesby and every Sunday off Gorleston-on-Sea beach where there are some great spots for spectactors to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat.
